Corrections & right of reply
Effective
We want this guide to be accurate and fair to every candidate. If you see an error, missing context, an outdated item or an unfair characterization, please tell us.
Email a correction to contact@otraasi.com
How to request a correction
- Include the page link, the exact text you're concerned about, what you believe is correct, and a source (an official record, a published article or a document).
- Every candidate page has a Report an error link that pre-fills the candidate's name.
Right of reply for candidates and campaigns
Candidates and their official campaigns may ask us to correct factual errors or add a short, factual response to a criticism we've summarized. Please write from an address we can verify (e.g. the one on your municipality's certified candidate list). Where appropriate we'll add your response next to the item, labelled as the candidate's response. We don't publish endorsements, attacks on other candidates, or unsourced claims.
What happens next
- Acknowledgement: target of 2 business days.
- Review and resolution: target of 5 business days. We aim to be faster in the final week before October 26.
- We check the claim against the cited sources and any new evidence. Verified errors are fixed promptly and recorded in the change log below. If an item can't be verified, we may remove or clarify it while we review.
- If we decide not to make a change, we'll explain why.
Our editorial safeguards
- Every positive and concern is attributed to a named source ("According to …") and linked.
- We don't include private-life matters, references to family members, unproven allegations, or descriptions of character or criminality unless they come from a court or tribunal record or a major news outlet, and we include the candidate's response where reported.
- Campaign materials are labelled "campaign claim". No polls, rankings or endorsements.
Change log
- Deeper research pass: added sourced positives for 40 and concerns for 5 candidates who previously had none, using The Local, CBC (Hamilton, London, Toronto), the London Free Press, AuroraToday, the Caledon Enterprise, YorkRegion.com, Windsor News Today and 2022 election results. Concerns remain attributed; candidates with nothing verifiable keep the 'limited' label.
- Expanded coverage to Ottawa; Peel Region (Mississauga, Brampton, Caledon); York Region (nine municipalities); London; Waterloo Region (Kitchener, Waterloo); and Windsor. Added notes on regional chairs that are now appointed under Bill 100.
- Editorial audit of all Concerns: 39 reworded for explicit attribution; 5 removed (unproven allegations, references to family members, or editorial context rather than the candidate's own record).
- Hamilton: Rob Cooper entry changed from "voted against" to "spoke against" the 2026 tax increase to match the source. Clarington: removed an unverified website link for Adrian Foster.
- First version (Toronto, Hamilton, Durham Region).
